Over-The-Counter products

Over-the-counter (OTC) products are those medications you can get directly from your pharmacist without a prescription from your doctor.

People experiencing flu or cold symptoms will commonly take OTC medications (such as pain relievers and decongestants) to relieve their symptoms.

In order to effectively treat the actual influenza virus and stop it from spreading further inside your body, you need to take antiviral medication.

People use a range of products to manage the symptoms of influenza, like high fevers or coughs. These products do not treat the influenza infection itself, which will continue to run its course unless it's treated with an antiviral medicine.
